Butleigh school got to its feet at its first Good Workers Assembly of the term, to learn how to start the day with a 'wake & shake' routine. Jon Davis from St Dunstan's school in Glasonbury introduced staff, pupils and parents to the first of a series of routines designed to get the children physically and mentally prepared for other school work.
The wake and shake programme involves fun routines to music for all abilities, including basic stretching exercises. This will not only form part of the school's PE programme, but will be integrated into the school day.
While at the school, Mr Davis spent a day training Year 6 pupils to become Playground Leaders. Playground Leaders will be responsible for supporting younger children at playtimes through organised games, and will lead some of the wake & shake routines with the Infants.
