23 Feb 2006 - Blue Peter Visits the West Country
Konnie was filming the English leg of a nationwide documentary and engaged the help of children from the top classes of Baltonsborough and Butleigh primary schools for the programme.
Brue Valley Farm, a cheese-making business owned by the Clapp family for many generations, was the site for the filming - and Konnie seemed to really get into the spirit of cheese making. She watched the fabulous team of cheese-makers (headed up by Bob Clapp) turning, cutting and milling the curds, along with the salting, packing of the moulds and wrapping of the pressed cheeses, which is all done by hand.
Sarah, Miranda, Jasmine and Jack - all from Baltonsborough - were picked to actually go with Konnie to see how see just how this delicious, award winning Westcountry farmhouse cheese is handmade on the farm.
With the backdrop of Glastonbury Tor, all the children who attended enjoyed what was for most their first experience in front of the lens, waving English flags and cheering raucously. A great few hours were had by all!
